The problem

You know the job took too long. You cannot prove it.

The quote said three days. It felt like five. When the same client comes back with the same kind of job, you quote three days again, because feeling that it ran over is not the same as knowing by how much.

Full timesheet software solves that, and costs a subscription, wants an account, keeps your data on somebody else's server, and takes longer to fill in than the task it is measuring.

The answer

One click to start. One to stop.

Prod Tracker holds a list of productions, each with a client name. Click one to start counting, click again to stop. That is the entire interaction, which is the only reason a time tracker ever survives past the first week.

Behind it, the totals accumulate: today, this week, this month, and since the beginning. Per production and across all of them.

How it works

It notices when you stop.

The failure mode of every timer is the evening you forget to press stop and wake up to a fourteen-hour session. Prod Tracker pauses itself after a configurable period of inactivity, from two minutes to thirty, so an interrupted afternoon does not become a fictional day.

You also set what a working day means to you, eight hours, ten, or your own number. Daily totals are then measured against that, instead of against somebody else's idea of full time.
